Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop is a medicine that may be taken alone or in conjunction with other medications.
How To Use Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml
This medicine is for external use only. Always wash your hands before and after applying eye drops. Tilt your head back and look upwards. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it to avoid contamination. Pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Whilst keeping the affected eye closed, gently press your finger against the corner of the closed eye (the side where the eye meets the nose) and hold for 1 minute. Wipe off any extra liquid. Wait for 5 minutes before administering another drop into that eye (of the same or different medication) to prevent drops from being washed out of the eye. Ensure to replace and tighten the cap straight after use or discard away any medication for single-use containers.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.
Skin redness and skin itching , Facial flushing, Burning sensation, Pins and needles (paraesthesia), Increased IOP , Swollen face, Nasal congestion, Blurred vision and ocular dryness, Fatigue, Drowsiness and dizziness
Warning Precautions
Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml. Taking Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml with alcohol may have additive effects in the central nervous system.
Pregnancy Warning (Maybe Safe)
The safety of Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml during human pregnancy is not established. In addition to that, animal studies do not show any teratogenic effects on the fetus.
Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)
There is no information regarding the safety of Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml during lactation. It is not known whether Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml is excreted in human breast milk.
Driving Warning (Not Advisable)
Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml may cause side effects such as dizziness, blurry vision or tiredness, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.
Kidney Warning (Use With Care)
Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease as Brinomidine has not been studied in kidney disease.
Liver Warning (Limited Data)
Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml should be used with caution in patients with liver disease as Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drop 5ml has not been studied in liver disease.
Quick Tips
After applying the drop, apply pressure at the corner of the eyes for one minute.
If you are wearing contact lenses, remove them before applying the eye and re-insert it back after 15mins of using the drops.
To avoid contaminating the eye drops, avoid touching the dropper tip to anything, including your eye.
Wait 5-10 minutes before administering if you have another eye drop that needs to be used in the same eye.
Your vision might be slightly blurred vision after initial application, therefore drive or use machinery with care.
You may also feel some eye irritation upon application but the effect should be temporary. Let your doctor know if this persists.
Use within four weeks after opening the bottle.
