Pregnancy Warning (C)
Caltrate 600+D Tablet is safe to consume during pregnancy. Precaution, however, should be advised for pregnant women as Caltrate 600+D Tablet in high doses may cause toxicity and mil-alkali syndrome. Dose adjustment and doctor's advise are required for the indicated condition.Caltrate 600+D Tablet is not advisable to be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks.

Breastfeeding Warning (Safe To Breastfeed)
Caltrate 600+D Tablet is safe to be used in lactating women and calcium is found in the breastmilk. It is, however, advisable for lactating women to get a prescribed dose of Caltrate 600+D Tablet for the condition they have to prevent overdosage.Although there are no effects on the breastfed newborn, the practitioner has to consider the dose of any additional Caltrate 600+D Tablet as it can be excreted into the breastmilk.

Driving Warning (Safe)

Kidney Warning (High Risk)
It is advisable to put patients with mild to moderate kidney failure on close supervision of plasma calcium level and urinary calcium excretion. It is not advisable or contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure without dialysis treatment.Caltrate 600+D Tablet is recommended to be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment whereas its usage is not advisable in patients with severe kidney impairment.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)
It is presumably safe to use Caltrate 600+D Tablet in patients with liver impairment. However, close monitoring is needed if there are signs of worsening liver conditions shown.Caltrate 600+D Tablet is generally safe to use in patients with liver impairment.

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Mechanism of Action
Caltrate 600+D Tablet works as antacids by increasing the pH of the stomach. It also forms an insoluble complex binding with phosphate in the intestine thus preventing the absorption into the circulatory system. Lastly, it will be absorbed into the circulatory system to replenish the calcium deficiency.

Caltrate 600+D Tablet interacts with Vitamin D receptors in the gut, bones and kidneys to increase the absorption of calcium and phosphorous.
