Arthralgia Joint Pain

Overview

Arthralgia is also known as joint pain. It is a common problem that occurs due to some type of arthritis, inflammation of the tendon, infection of bone or injury. Some people may experience pain in only one joint, while some have pain in many joints at the same time. Osteoarthritis occurs due to wear and tear of the joint surface. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease, where the immune system is faulty and attacks the joints. Psoriatic arthritis is an autoimmune inflammatory disease, where the immune system attacks the joints like rheumatoid arthritis. What differentiates psoriatic arthritis from rheumatoid arthritis is, people with psoriatic arthritis will also have psoriasis and it can affect the nails, eyes, and tendon. Gout is a painful condition that occurs as a result of the accumulation of crystals in the joint. Treatment of arthralgia usually involves pain relief, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.
