Heart Attack Prevention And High Cholesterol

Overview

Heart attack which is also known as Myocardial Infarction in medical term. A heart attack occurs due to reduced blood flow and thus compromising oxygen delivery to the heart tissue. The underlying risk factors for heart attack are hypertension, smoking, alcohol consumption, and diabetes mellitus. High blood cholesterol level can cause health consequences depending on which type of cholesterol is increased, the "bad" HDL or "good" LDL. Deposition of LDL cholesterols in the arterial walls over time forming a plaque-causing blockage and inflammation of the blood vessel. Thus, the blood flow and oxygen to the heart greatly reduces, leading into a heart attack.
