Overview

Herpes Simplex Virus Infection includes Herpes Simplex Virus 1 where it causes oral herpes and Herpes Simplex Virus 2 where it causes genital herpes infection. It is a contagious virus and can be transmitted from person to person.

Sharing drinks or food with someone with herpes simplex virus infection, Kissing someone with herpes simplex virus infection, Sharing eating utensils with someone with herpes simplex virus infection, Sexual contact with someone with herpes simplex virus infection

Risk Factors

Age, Multiple sexual partners, Unprotective sex, Weakened immune system, Already have sexually transmitted infection (STI)

Physical examination, Tzanck smear, Viral culture, Immunofluorescence, Serology

Oral acyclovir or famciclovir or valacyclovir, Topical acyclovir
