High Blood Pressure And Cholesterol

Overview

High blood pressure is a condition where the blood pressure is more than the normal range and it is also known as Hypertension. Commonly there are two types of hypertension. Essential hypertension and secondary hypertension. As the name stands, secondary hypertension is due to a secondary cause. One of the most important risk factors is high cholesterol levels. Cholesterol is a waxy substance that is found in our bodies. Cholesterol is obtained from food and processed by our liver to several types of cholesterols. The types of cholesterol are HDL (high density lipoprotein) which are good cholesterol, LDL (low density lipoprotein) which are bad cholesterol and need to be in low amount to avoid further complications and lastly there is VLDL (very low-density lipoprotein) which is also a bad cholesterol as it helps in building plaques in the body. High cholesterols can be reduced by eating oats and more fibre into the diets.
