Moderate To Severe Pain

Overview

Pain is an unpleasant sensation triggered by a stimulus or damage. It can be felt in any part of the body. There are mainly three types of pain which are nociceptive pain where it is caused by damage to the tissue, Nerve Pain caused by damage to the peripheral nerves and sensory hypersensitivity. The severity of pain can be categorized into mild, moderate and severe by using the pain scale. Pain is said to be moderate to severe when it ranges from 4/10 to 6/10. It is important to identify moderate to severe pain. Mild pain is usually bearable and can be treated easily. Moderate to severe pain is usually discomforting and sometimes cannot be tolerated. Moderate to severe pain is often the first reason for a patient to seek medical attention. Moderate to severe pain can be treated with various painkillers temporarily. However, the cause of the pain should be identified and treated accordingly.
