Prevention Of Chickenpox

Overview

Varicella-zoster vaccination is the only way of preventing chickenpox. It is recommended to those who have never had the vaccine or chickenpox. Two doses of vaccine will be needed. Other ways to prevent the disease include avoiding close contact with people who are infected with chickenpox as the virus can spread through direct contact or through inhalation of infected air droplets when coughing or sneezing. Next, keep your hands clean by washing them with soap and water, or alcohol-based hand rub. Patients are advised to be quarantined to avoid the spread of infection. You should also make a habit to clean frequently touched surfaces, get enough rest, eat a healthy diet and drink enough water.
