Prevention Of Heart Attack And Stroke

Overview

A heart attack also is widely known as Myocardial infarction is when there is a cessation of blood flow due to blocking thrombus causing irreversible myocardial damage. It is also categorized under the umbrella term of acute coronary syndrome. Stroke is when there is reduced or deprived blood supply to the brain tissue causing irreversible damages of brain tissue. Stroke can be divided into a hemorrhagic and ischaemic stroke. It is crucial to identify and differentiate both types of stroke because the managements totally vary. CT scan can help in differentiating the ischaemic and hemorrhagic type of stroke. However, the risk factors for both heart attack and stroke are almost similar which are smoking, increasing age, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and obesity.
