Use it according to the doctor's instructions for dosage and duration. Remove your contact lenses before taking the drug if you use them. Avoid touching the dropper's tip to any surface, as this might contaminate the eye drop.
How To Use Isopto Carpine 2% Eye Drop 15ml
This medicine is for external use only. Always wash your hands before and after applying eye drops. Tilt your head back and look upwards. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it to avoid contamination. Pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Whilst keeping the affected eye closed, gently press your finger against the corner of the closed eye (the side where the eye meets the nose) and hold for 1 minute. Wipe off any extra liquid. Wait for 5 minutes before administering another drop into that eye (of the same or different medication) to prevent drops from being washed out of the eye. Ensure to replace and tighten the cap straight after use or discard away any medication for single-use containers.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.
There is no contraindication in alcohol consumption while taking Isopto Carpine 2% Eye Drop 15ml.
Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)
Animal reproductive studies have shown foetal toxicity while there is no adequate human data to conclude the safety of Isopto Carpine 2% Eye Drop 15ml during pregnancy. It is thus best avoided during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)
It is not known whether Isopto Carpine 2% Eye Drop 15ml is excreted into human breastmilk or not. Due to its potential toxicity, Isopto Carpine 2% Eye Drop 15ml is not advisable to be used during breastfeeding.
Driving Warning (Not Advisable)
It is not advisable to drive when under Isopto Carpine 2% Eye Drop 15ml treatment due to its potential side effects such as headache and dizziness which can affect the ability to concentrate and drive.
Kidney Warning (Safe If Prescribed)
No dosage adjustment is needed for patients with renal impairment as indicated by the manufacturer labelling.
Liver Warning (Limited Data)
Dosage adjustment may be needed in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment. It is not advisable to be used for patients with severe hepatic impairment.
Quick Tips
Isopto Carpine 2% Eye Drop should be adminitered according to the recommended dosage and duration.
May cause temporary visual blurring upon administration. Do not use before driving or perform any activities that require attention.
Press the inner corner of the eye (near the nose) for approximately 1 minute, immediately after administering Isopto Carpine 2% Eye Drop
Make sure the tip does not get in contact with any surface or eyes to prevent contamination.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering next medication into the eye to prevent dilution.
Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 minutes. Notify your doctor if it lasts longer.
