Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)
Consumption of alcohol with Malarone Tablet may be unsafe as both can affect liver enzymes.It is safe to consume alcohol with Malarone Tablet as there is no known drug interaction.

Pregnancy Warning (D)
Malarone Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. There is no information regarding the adverse effects of Malarone Tablet on the fetus and there are insufficient animal studies that have shown possible risks to the developing fetus. Nevertheless, the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk.There are limited human studies of the use of Malarone Tablet in pregnancy. It should not be used in pregnancy unless the benefits from use in pregnant women outweigh the risks. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning (Safe To Breastfeed)
Excretion of Malarone Tablet in human milk is unknown. Therefore, it is safer to avoid taking Malarone Tablet during lactation.Malarone Tablet is found to be excreted in human breast milk. However, the amount is negligible.

Driving Warning (Safe)
There is no information about the effect of Malarone Tablet on the ability to drive. Nevertheless, Malarone Tablet's pharmacological property is not predicted to give detrimental effects on driving.Do not drive unless you are feeling well. There is no evidence that Malarone Tablet may affect the ability to drive and general concentration.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)
Dose adjustment of Malarone Tablet is not required in patients with renal impairment as it is not excreted renally.Malarone Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose titration of Malarone Tablet according to clinical status may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Safe)
Malarone Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease as it is excreted by the liver. Dose adjustment of the medication is not needed. Nevertheless, close monitoring is required following the administration. Please consult your doctor.There is no information regarding the safety of Malarone Tablet in patient with liver disease.

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Mechanism of Action
Malarone Tablet is an antimalarial or antiprotozoal agent which inhibits complex III of the mitochondrial electron transport chain of Pneumocystis jirovecii. Thus, it inhibits the synthesis of nucleic acids and ATP leading to parasite death.

Malarone Tablet is an antimalarial agent. It prevents nucleic acid synthesis in the parasite by inhibiting enzyme, plasmodial dihydrofolate reductase and thus killing the parasite.
