Pentasa 1g/100ml Enema should be taken with meals. The pills should be taken whole with water, do not break, crush, or chew them. The dosage will vary on what you are being treated for but take it precisely as your doctor recommends. You should maintain taking this medication for as long as your doctor advises. If you discontinue therapy too early your symptoms may come back and your health may deteriorate. The most frequent adverse effects of this medication are nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, hair loss, itching, and flatulence. If these symptoms concern you, do not go away or become worse, inform your doctor. There may be methods of minimising or avoiding them. Some individuals may have a severe allergic response which requires immediate medical care. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms like swelling of the face, tongue, throat or lips, unusual bleeding, bruises, rash, fever, sore throat, or extreme fatigue. Before taking it, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver issues or a blockage in your stomach. Your age may also be a factor in determining if this medication is appropriate. Pregnant or nursing women should also contact their doctor before using this medication. Let your doctor know about any other medicines you are taking since some may impact, or be affected by this medicine.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before and after using the enema. You may use a disposable glove and lubricate the tip of the suppository (if required) with a small amount of the enema liquid. Gently insert the enema nozzle into the anal opening, approxiamtely 3 cm into the rectum. Squeeze the tube gently until the solution is emptied into the rectum. Keep squeezing the tube and remove from anus to prevent liquid from being drawn back into the container. Lower the leg and roll over onto the stomach. Remain lying down for a few minutes to prevent liquid from leaking out.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Alcohol Warning (Safe)
There is no clear contraindication on the consumption of alcohol when taking Pentasa 1g/100ml Enema 100ml x7s/Mesalamine.
Pregnancy Warning (Maybe Safe)
Pentasa 1g/100ml Enema 100ml x7s/Mesalamine has been shown in animal studies to not cause any harm or reproductive toxicity. Human pregnancy data also suggest similar safety profile even though Pentasa 1g/100ml Enema 100ml x7s crosses the placenta. It is therefore should be used with caution during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding Warning (Safe If Prescribed)
The metabolites of Pentasa 1g/100ml Enema 100ml x7s/Mesalamine has been detected in human breastmilk and thus it should be used with caution during breastfeeding.
Driving Warning (Not Advisable)
It is not advisable to drive when under Pentasa 1g/100ml Enema 100ml x7s/Mesalamine treatment due to its potential side effects such as headache and dizziness which can affect the ability to concentrate and drive.
Kidney Warning (High Risk)
Dosage adjustment is needed for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment and is contraindicated for patients with severe renal impairment.
Liver Warning (Safe If Prescribed)
Dosage adjustment may be needed for patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment and is contraindicated for patients with severe hepatic impairment.
Quick Tips
Regular tests may be conducted to monitor kidney and liver function before you start taking Pentasa 1g/100ml Enema and on a regular basis thereafter.
If your kidney or liver function is significantly impaired, tell your doctor.
If you are allergic to aspirin or have blood problems, do not use it.
