How To Use Galvus 50mg Tablet 14s (strip)

This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.

Side Effects

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Most side effects do not need medical attention and resolve as the body responds to the drug. Consult your doctor if they continue or if you are worried about them.

The most common side effects of this drug include low blood sugar level, tremor, headache, dizziness, fatigue, and nausea. It is necessary to identify the symptoms of low blood sugar level such as lightheadedness, sweating, dizziness, fainting, and dry mouth) and to know how to deal with it. You should bring sugar or glucose candy and, if you have any, have it to control your symptoms. Please contact your doctor if you have any side effects if they don't go away or concern you.

There is no known interaction between Galvus 50mg Tablet 14s (strip) and alcohol but alcohol is known to alter blood glucose level which may cause complication or uncontrolled blood sugar level in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Pregnancy Warning (Limited Data)

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity at a high dose but there are limited data of Vitagliptin use in pregnant women. Thus, Galvus 50mg Tablet 14s (strip) is not advisable to be used during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning (Not Advisable)

Galvus 50mg Tablet 14s (strip) has been shown to be excreted in animal milk but excretion in human milk is unknown. Thus, Galvus 50mg Tablet 14s (strip) is not advisable to be used during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Warning (Generally Safe)

There are no studies of Galvus 50mg Tablet 14s (strip) on the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)

Dose adjustment is required in patients with moderate to severe kidney impairment.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)

Galvus 50mg Tablet 14s (strip) is not advisable to be used in patients with liver impairment.

Quick Tips

Galvus 50 mg tablet should be taken at the same time every day as this makes you remember to take it.
It can cause low blood sugar level when used with other medications, alcohol or if you skip or miss a meal.
Always take some sugary food or fruit juice with you if you have signs of low blood sugar level, such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor and anxiety.
Be patient when driving or handling machinery until you know how Galvus 50mg Tablet is influencing you.
Your doctor can check your kidney and liver function before starting treatment and routinely thereafter.
Tell your doctor if you experience symptoms such as stomach pain, tiredness, loss of appetite, darkened urine, or yellowing of the eyes or skin.
