This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Excessive sweating

Metallic taste
While some these symptoms are more common, there are a few rare symptoms that could also occur. If you are feeling any other symptoms (whether it is mentioned in the above list or not), please consult with a doctor immediately. These symptoms become more prominent as when one is undergoing a long term therapy with this medication.
Precautionary Steps of Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s
Please consult a doctor especially before taking Galvus Met. If you have any of the following conditions & contraindications:-
Allergy to Galvus Met or any of its components
Hypersensitivity
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Severe renal impairment (GFR <30ml/min)
Hepatic impairment
Dehydration
Severe infection
Cardiac failure
Respiratory failure
Alcoholism
Acute alcohol intoxication
Breastfeeding
Pregnancy
It is not recommended for children. Please keep it out of reach from them.

Galvus Met Drug Interactions
Drug to drug interaction reaction of Galvus Met varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s. Alcohol intoxication can increase the risk of lactic acidosis particularly in case of fasting, malnutrition or hepatic impairment.There is no known interaction between Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s and alcohol but alcohol is known to alter blood glucose level which may cause complication or uncontrolled blood sugar level in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Pregnancy Warning (Limited Data)
Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s should be safe to use during pregnancy because either animal or human studies have not shown any adverse effects on the fetus, however, uncontrolled hyperglycemia in people with PCOS can increase the risk of congenital abnormalities and intrauterine death. Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity at a high dose but there are limited data of Vitagliptin use in pregnant women. Thus, Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s is not advisable to be used during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeeding Warning (Not Advisable)
Limited human studies suggest that Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s does not represent a significant risk to the baby when used during pregnancy. In regards to limited data, please consult your doctor to decide on discontinuation of breastfeeding or Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s.Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s has been shown to be excreted in animal milk but excretion in human milk is unknown. Thus, Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s is not advisable to be used during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor.
Driving Warning (Generally Safe)
Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.There are no studies of Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s on the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Kidney Warning (High Risk)
Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease, especially in patients with creatinine clearance less than 60mL/min. Patients with severe kidney disease has high risk to get lactic acidosis. Dose adjustment of Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s and regular check up to monitor renal function may be needed. Please consult your doctor before consumption.Dose adjustment is required in patients with moderate to severe kidney impairment.
Liver Warning (Use With Care)
Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s should be used with caution in patients with liver disease due to increased risk of lactic acidosis. Hence liver function test should be done before initiating Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s. Discontinuation of Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s may be needed if there is deterioration of liver function. Please consult your doctor. Galvus Met 50/500mg Tablet 60s is not advisable to be used in patients with liver impairment.
