Acyclovir is commonly used in the treatment of chickenpox, chronic hepatitis c virus hcv infection, eye infections by herpes simplex virus, genital herpes infection, herpes labialis, herpes simplex virus infections and shingles.

How Acyclovir Works

Acyclovir is an antiviral, which belongs to the class of nucleotides and nucleosides. Acyclovir works by interfering with viral DNA polymerase. It stops the viral DNA replication through chain termination.
