How Acyclovir Topical Works

Aciclovir is the active ingredient in Zovirax Cream. This belongs to a class of medications known as antivirals. It destroys or prevents the growth of viruses that cause cold sores or genital herpes.

Side Effects of Acyclovir Topical

Rash,Itching Or Hives On Your Skin, Swelling Of Your Face, Lips,Tongue Or Other Parts Of Your Body, Shortness Of Breath, Wheezing Or Trouble Breathing, Unexplained High Fever (High Temperature) And Feeling Faint, Especially When Standing Up, A Burning Or Stinging Feeling, After Applying The Cream That Goes Away, Mild Drying Or Flaking Of Your Skin, Itching, Redness Of Your Skin, Skin Rash.

As Acyclovir Topical is used topically, the risk of interacting with alcohol consumed is negligible.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

The safety of Acyclovir Topical in human pregnancy is not established. Therefore, Acyclovir Topical should only be used for pregnant women after careful risk/benefit assessment by the doctor.

Lactation Limited Data

Acyclovir Topical is most likely safe to be used during lactation. Limited data are suggesting that the medication does not pose a significant risk to the baby. Please consult your doctor before use.

Driving Generally Safe

Acyclovir Topical should not affect alertness or driving ability.

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Acyclovir Topical is not used for internal consumption and the amount absorbed into the circulatory system also is negligible. It is, therefore, safe to be used even in a patient with renal impairment.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

Acyclovir Topical is not used for internal consumption and the amount absorbed into the circulatory system also is negligible to cause any effect , therefore, safe to be used even in a patient with liver impairment.
