Amlodipine+Valsartan

Information About Amlodipine+Valsartan

Uses of Amlodipine+Valsartan

Amlodipine and valsartan, when combined, belong to the class of antihypertensive agents and are indicated for the treatment of hypertension to lower blood pressure.

How Amlodipine+Valsartan Works

Amlodipine and Valsartan have complementary mechanisms of action. Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance. Valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, further contributing to blood pressure reduction by relaxing blood vessels. Together, they provide an effective combination for the management of hypertension.

Side Effects of Amlodipine+Valsartan

Common side effects may include: Dizziness, Peripheral edema (swelling of the extremities), Flushing, Headache, Fatigue, Palpitations, Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nasal passages and throat)
