Atropine is commonly used to treat symptoms such as bradycardia, increased sweating, motion sickness and pain due to smooth muscle spasm. it is also used to treat disease such as drug induced abnormal movements, stomach ulcers, intestinal ulcers, parkinson's disease and uveitis.

How Atropine Works

Atropine is an anticholinergic agent. It works by blocking the muscarinic receptors in the peripheral tissues.

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Atropine . Taking Atropine with alcohol may have additive effects in increasing heart rate. You may also experience confusion, dizziness and palpitations.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Atropine may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus. However, there are limited well-controlled human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Limited Data

Atropine is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that Atropine does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Driving Not advisable

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Atropine may cause side effects such as visual disturbances, giddiness and delayed reaction time, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.
