How Butropium Bromide Works

Butropium bromide is an antispasmodic agent. It inhibits acetylcholine receptors leading to reduction of the tone and motility of parasympathetically innervated smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract.

Side Effects of Butropium Bromide

Dryness of the mouth, Impaired urination, Headache, Drowsiness, Tachycardia, Hypotension, Hypersensitivity , Flushing, Impaired ocular accommodation

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Butropium Bromide as there are risks of drowsiness, hypotension, tachycardia and impaired ocular accommodation.

Pregnancy Limited Data

The use of Butropium Bromide in pregnancy is not yet established. It can be administered when the benefit is thought to outweigh the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Limited Data

Avoid using Butropium Bromide during breastfeeding as the excretion of the medication in human milk is unknown.

Driving Not advisable

Butropium bromide may cause side effects such as drowsiness, hypotension, tachycardia and impaired ocular accommodation which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Limited Data

Butropium bromide should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease as there is no information regarding the medication and kidney disease.

Liver Limited Data

There is no information about the usage of Butropium bromide in liver disease. Hence, butropium bromide should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.
