How Chlorzoxazone Works

Chlorzoxazone is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. It works by inhibiting the polysynaptic reflex arcs in the spinal cord and subcortical areas of the brain thus reducing the skeletal muscle spasm and pain.

Alcohol Not Advisable

Chlorzoxazone and alcohol consumption may worsen the effects on the central nervous system as their adverse reactions may be compounded.

Pregnancy Limited Data

There is no relevant animal data and very limited human data available. Based on the data that is available, Chlorzoxazone uses may not cause teratogenicity.

Lactation Limited Data

No human data to study the effects during lactation as well but it is assumed to be compatible during lactation and close monitoring is advisable.

Driving Not advisable

It is not advisable to drive when taking Chlorzoxazone due to its potential side effects such as drowsiness and dizziness which can affect the ability to drive and concentrate.

No dosage adjustment is needed for people with renal impairment despite it being excreted via urine.
