How Dimenhydrinate Works

Dimenhydrinate is an Antivertigo. Dimenhydrinate works by affecting the effector cells on the GI tract, blood vessels, and respiratory tract by competing with histamine for H1-receptor sites. it also inhibits the chemoreceptor trigger zone and suppresses the vestibular stimulation.

Dizziness, Drowsiness, Headache, Hallucinations, Confusion, Psychosis, Seizure, Flushed face, Dilated pupils, Ataxia

Dimenhydrinate Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

Taking Dimenhydrinate with alcohol may increase the sedative effect.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Use of Dimenhydrinate is acceptable during pregnancy. Animal reproduction studies do not demonstrate adverse effects on the fetus, and there are no adequate studies in pregnant women. This medication should only be used when there is a clear indication of infection. Please consult your doctor before use.

Lactation Not Advisable

Dimenhydrinate is contraindicated during lactation. Animal studies have shown excretion of Dimenhydrinate in milk.

Driving Not advisable

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Dimenhydrinate may cause side effects such as drowsiness which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Dimenhydrinate can be used in patients with kidney impairment.

Liver Use With Care
