Gliclazide is commonly used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Gliclazide is used to stimulate insulin release from the Beta cells and increase the insulin sensitivity

Side Effects of Gliclazide

Hypoglycaemia, Allergic reaction, Blurred vision, Abdominal pain, Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Cholestatic jaundice

Gliclazide Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

Alcohol may accentuate hypoglycaemic effect caused by Gliclazide. Thus, it is not advisable to consume alcohol during the treatment with Gliclazide.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicities and prolonged severe hypoglycaemia has been reported in newborns to mother receiving Gliclazide at time of delivery. Thus, it is contraindicated during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Not Advisable

There are no data on the effect of Gliclazide upon breastfed babies. Thus, Gliclazide is contraindicated during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

Gliclazide usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney High Risk

Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with moderate kidney impairment. It is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Use With Care

Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with moderate liver impairment. It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment. Please consult your doctor.
