How Hydrocortisone Topical Works

Hydrocortisone acetate is the active ingredient in the medication. Topical corticosteroids have anti-inflammatory, anti-itching, and blood vessel constriction properties. The mechanism of topical corticosteroid anti-inflammatory activity is unexplained.

Burning, Itching, Irritation, Dryness, Excessive Hair Growth, Acne Eruptions, Lightening Of The Skin, Skin Inflammation Around The Mouth, Allergic Contact Skin Inflammation, Softening Of The Skin Colour, Secondary Infection, Skin Thinning, Stretch Mark And Heat Rashes.

Alcohol Safe

As Hydrocortisone Topical is used topically, the risk of interacting with alcohol consumed is negligible.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Hydrocortisone Topical may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal reproduction studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus. However, there are limited well-controlled human studies. The benefits from the use of Hydrocortisone Topical in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Limited Data

Hydrocortisone Topical is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Animals studies showed Hydrocortisone Topical is excreted in the milk of rats. Limited human data suggests that Hydrocortisone Topical does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Driving Generally Safe

Hydrocortisone Topical should not affect alertness or driving ability.

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Hydrocortisone Topical is safe to be used in patients with kidney impairment.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

Hydrocortisone Topical is generally safe for patients with liver disease.
