Uses of Itraconazole

Itraconazole is commonly used in the treatment of dandruff, fungal infections and severe fungal infections.

How Itraconazole Works

Itraconazole is a type of antifungal drug. Itraconazole works by decreasing the synthesis of ergosterol by interfering with cytochrome activity that leads to the inhibition of the cell membrane formation.

Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Constipation, Abdominal pain, Flatulence, Fatigue, Malaise, Headache, Dizziness

Itraconazole Related Warnings

Alcohol Safe

There is no known interaction of Itraconazole with alcohol.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Itraconazole may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal reproduction studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus. However, there are limited well-controlled human studies. The benefits from the use of Itraconazole in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Not Advisable

Itraconazole should be avoided during lactation. Some amount of Itraconazole is excreted in human breast milk. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

There are no studies of Itraconazole on the effect of ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Itraconazole should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Administration of intravenous Itraconazole is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment. Dose adjustment of Itraconazole may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Use With Care

Itraconazole should be used with caution in patients with severe liver impairment as Itraconazole is metabolized in the liver. Dose adjustment of Itraconazole may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
