How Tamsulosin Works

Tamsulosin is an alpha-1 adrenoceptor antagonist. It binds competitively to alpha receptors thus reducing smooth muscle contraction and in return relaxes the prostate and urethral smooth muscle.

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with tamsulosin. It may worsen the side effects of Tamsulosin such as headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and palpitations.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Tamsulosin is likely to be safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies do not show any side effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor for more details.

Lactation Limited Data

No reports on the safety of usage tamsulosin during human lactation are available yet. This drug is not indicated for women.

Driving Generally Safe
