Uses of Triflusal

Triflusal is usually given as a prophylaxis for Thromboembolic disorders.

How Triflusal Works

Triflusal is a prophylaxis of thromboembolic disorders. It inhibits platelet aggregation and may stimulate platelet cAMP production. While it does not increase bleeding time, it also have neuroprotective effects by preventing cell damage during ischemia in the nervous system.

Side Effects of Triflusal

Nausea, Vomiting, Gastric and epigastric pain, Erythema, Conjunctival hemorrhage, Epistaxis or nose bleeding

Triflusal Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

There is no known interaction between alcohol and Triflusal. As it may cause nausea, vomiting and stomach problem, it is not advisable to drink alcohol while on the medication.

Pregnancy Limited Data

There is no data found regarding the FDA category or its safety when used in pregnant women.

Lactation Limited Data

There is no data found regarding its lactation safety.

Driving Generally Safe

Triflusal has no effect on the ability to drive.

Kidney Use With Care

Triflusal should be used with special care although there is limited clinical experience in patients with renal impairment. However, in patients with end stage renal disease, there is no significant changes and no adjustment is required when using Triflusal.
