How To Use Nexium 40mg Tablet

This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.
Precautionary Steps of Nexium 40mg Tablet

Please consult a doctor especially before taking Nexium MUPS If you have any of the following conditions & contraindications:-

  • Hypersensitivity 
  • Liver Disease
  • Osteoporosis

Consumption of Nexium MUPS should be stopped if you experience symptoms from any of the above conditions. This medication should be kept in a dry place and stored in room temperature. 

Nexium MUPS Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Nexium MUPS varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.
  • Other proton pump inhibitors
  • Antacids
  • Anti-retroviral drugs 
  • Anti epileptic drugs 
  • Benzodiazepines 
  • Clarithromycin

Alcohol Warning( Limited Data )
It may be safe to consume Nexium 40mg Tablet with alcohol. However, it is better to avoid alcohol as alcohol worsen GERD symptoms which may cause higher dose of Nexium 40mg Tablet needed to treat the symptom.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)
There is insufficient data from human studies that demonstrated risk to the fetus. However, animal studies have found that Nexium 40mg Tablet may contribute to harmful effects towards fetal development though they do not indicate direct or indirect effect. It is recommended to practice caution when using Nexium 40mg Tablet in pregnant women.

Breastfeeding Warning ( Limited Data )
There is limited data on whether Nexium 40mg Tablet is excreted in human breast milk. The safety profile of Nexium 40mg Tablet is uncertain to be used during breastfeeding. Therefore, it is better to avoid Nexium 40mg Tablet.

Driving Warning ( Generally Safe )
Nexium 40mg Tablet usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning ( Use With Care )
For patients with impaired renal function, dose modification is not required. However, it is recommended to use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment and the dose must be adjusted.

Liver Warning ( Limited Data )
For patients with impaired liver function, dose modification is not required. However, it is recommended to use Nexium 40mg Tablet with caution in patients with severe liver impairment and the maximum dose of 20mg should not be exceeded.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.
