This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.

Norcutin Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Norcutin varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.
  • Cyclosporine A
  • Estrogens conjugated
  • Griseofulvin
  • Phenytoin
  • Rifampin

This is an incomprehensive list of drug-to-drug interactions and conditions that might interfere with Norcutin function. Do inform your doctor about all your current medications prior to consuming this drug. 

Keep the following precautions in mind as well:-
  • Avoid excess exposure to sunlight
  • Avoid this medicine for a longer use
  • Alcohol might affect your liver if it is taken with this medication
  • Do not take this medicine if you have liver and kidney disease
  • Tell your doctor if you have any other diseases or if you are taking any other medication
  • Do not discontinue the prescribed course


Alcohol Warning (Safe)
There is no apparent risk of consuming alcohol and Norcutin 5mg Tablet simultaneously.

Pregnancy Warning (X)
Norcutin 5mg Tablet is contradicted to use during pregnancy. Both animal and human studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus.

Breastfeeding Warning (Not Safe To Breastfeed)
Norcutin 5mg Tablet is not recommended while breastfeeding.

Driving Warning (Safe)
Norcutin 5mg Tablet usually does not affect the abillity to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)
Norcutin 5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease as it may cause fluid retention in the body. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Safe)
Norcutin 5mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease due to its metabolism mainly takes place in the liver. Please consult your doctor.

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

There could be certain side-effects associated with the usage of the medication. Please refer to the list below:-
  1. Fatigue
  2. Bleeding
  3. Abdominal pain
  4. Nervousness
  5. Hair thinning
  6. Urge to vomit
  7. Legs pain
  8. Vomiting
  9. Ovarian cyst
  10. Acne

While some these symptoms are more common, there are a few rare symptoms that could also occur. If you are feeling any other symptoms (whether it is mentioned in the above list or not), please consult with a doctor immediately. Please, consult with a doctor if you are having rashes or blurry visions. Report if you experience any other symptoms as the above list may not be exhaustive. These symptoms become more prominent as when one is undergoing a long term therapy with this medication.



Thrombotic and thromboembolic events, Migraine, Headache, Breast discomfort, Mood swing, Nausea, Vomiting, Decrease sex drive, Loss of appetite, Changes in menstrual flow, Breakthrough bleeding, Acne, Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)

1. What should I do when I missed a dose of Norcutin?

If you have missed a dose by chance, try to consume it as soon as possible when you notice. If the time to your next dosage is close, simply skip the medicine. In such cases, try to not double the dosage. 


2. I  think I have accidentally overdosed from the prescribed quantity of Norcutin. Do I need to see a doctor?

If you feel that you might have used more than the prescribed quantity of Norcutin, please talk to a physician immediately as overdosage more than the prescribed quantity might lead to undesirable side-effects. 


3. Am I allowed to drink alcohol after taking Norcutin?

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended with Norcutin. The resulting interaction between this medication with alcohol may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness and also it might raise the risk of side effects occurrence. In any case, do not consume more than 90 mL a day.


4. Will the consumption of Norcutin affect the child that I am bearing?

No it is not safe to use Norcutin during pregnancy. You’re advised to consult an obstetrician for detailed information before start consuming this drug. Pregnant mother can weigh the pros and cons of the drug with the help of a doctor before it is used.


5. I am currently nursing my baby. Is it safe to use Norcutin during breastfeeding or lactation?

No it is not safe to use Norcutin during breastfeeding or lactation. You’re advised to consult an obstetrician for detailed information before start consuming this drug. Lactating mother can weigh the pros and cons of the drug with the help of a doctor before it is used.


6. Am I able to drive when I consume  Norcutin?

Not recommended. Norcutin might make you feel drowsy and calm. It can also impair thinking temporarily. Moreover, it can also cause blurred vision. It is considered unsafe to drive when you feel such symptoms.


7. Does Norcutin have an addictive property?

Please refer to the information on the package carefully.


8. What should I do if I mistakenly took an expired dose of Norcutin?

Consuming an expired dose of Norcutin by accident might not be harmful but do consult your physician for advice just to be safe in this matter. 



9. Can Norcutin be used for prevent pregnancy?

Yes, prevent pregnancy is one of the most common reported uses for Norcutin. Please do not use Norcutin for prevent pregnancy without consulting your doctor first.

10. How long should I use Norcutin before I see my improvement of my condition?

Users of this drug will see an improvement in the condition within 3 days to 2 weeks. These times may not reflect what you might have experienced or how you used this medicine. Please consult your doctor to find out how long you need to use Norcutin

11. When is the time that I need to take this medicine, before or after eating?

This medicine should be taken before eating. Please use this medicine as what the doctor advised.


12. Can you explain on the safety of the usage of  Norcutin?

Norcutin is safe to use if taken in the prescribed dosage as suggested by the physician.


13. Do I have to gradually reduce the dosage of Norcutin or can it be stopped abruptly? 
There are some drugs that cannot be stopped immediately as it can have some withdrawal symptoms. Consult with your doctor regarding the usage of the medication as well as withdrawal symptoms, if any.


14. In a day, how many times should I take Norcutin?

The dosage and frequency of Norcutin is based on your condition. Use the drug as instructed by your doctor. You can also follow the instruction that has been printed on the product insert.
