How To Use Lanolone Tablet 10s

This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.

Side Effects

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

There could be certain side-effects associated with the use of Lanolone. Please refer to the list below:-

Nausea
Gas
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Burning sensations
Redness on the
Fever
Headache
Blood in the urine

While some these symptoms are more common, there are a few rare symptoms that could also occur. If you are feeling any other symptoms (whether it is mentioned in the above list or not), please consult with a doctor immediately. Please, consult with a doctor if you are having rashes or blurry visions. Report if you experience any other symptoms as the above list may not be exhaustive. These symptoms become more prominent as when one is undergoing a long term therapy with this medication.

Rashes (flat/small raised lesions), Fever and Chills, Joint Pain, Joint Stiffness, Joint Swelling, Nausea, Vomiting, Headache, Dizziness, Taste Changes, Unexplained Nosebleeds, High Blood Pressure

Gut disturbances, Acute attack of gout, Kidney stone, Kidney colic pain, Liver damage

Precautionary Steps of Lanolone Tablet 10s

Please consult a doctor especially before taking Lanolone. If you have any of the following conditions & contraindications:-

Glaucoma
Allergy to Lanolone or any of its components
Liver Disease
Asthma or other breathing problems
It is not recommended for children & Neonates. Please keep it out of reach from them
Hypersensitivity
Breastfeeding

Please stop using this medication if you are experiencing these symptoms and conditions.

Lanolone Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Lanolone varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.

Alcohol
Azathioprine
Anticoagulants
Cyclosporine
Ampicillin

This is an incomplete list of drug interactions and conditions that might affect Lanolone. Inform your doctor about all your present medications, before consuming this drug.

Keep the following precautions in mind as well:-

Alcohol might affect your liver if it is taken with this medication
Tell your doctor if you have any other diseases or if you are taking any other medication

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)

It is not advisable to take alcohol with Lanolone Tablet 10s as it would worsen any dizziness, blurred vision, and drowsiness.There is no known interaction between Lanolone Tablet 10s and alcohol when used concomitantly. However, it is not advisable to consume alcohol during the treatment with Lanolone Tablet 10s as it will further cause liver damage.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)

Lanolone Tablet 10s may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor. Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicities but there are limited data on the use of Lanolone Tablet 10s during pregnancy. Thus, it is not advisable to be used during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)

Lanolone Tablet 10s is excreted in the breast milk, along with its active metabolite oxipurinol. However, no data shows any effect of Lanolone Tablet 10s and oxipurinol in the breast milk on the baby. Ultimately, it is not recommended as of now.There are limited data on the use of Lanolone Tablet 10s during breastfeeding. Thus, caution use has to be practised during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Warning (Not Advisable)

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Lanolone Tablet 10s may cause side effects such as sleepiness, vertigo or loss of balance, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.Lanolone Tablet 10s usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)

Lanolone Tablet 10s should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease, especially if used with diuretics. Dose adjustment of Lanolone Tablet 10s may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Lanolone Tablet 10s is safe to be used in patients with kidney impairment.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)

Patients with liver disease should use Lanolone Tablet 10s with caution. Dose adjustment of Lanolone Tablet 10s may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Caution use of Lanolone Tablet 10s has to be practised in patients with liver impairment as it may cause further liver damage.

Why do my symptoms seem to be getting worse when taking Lanolone Tablet 10s?

It is common that you get attacks when starting your treatment with Lanolone Tablet 10s. This is because the uric acid levels in your body are still adjusting. You are advised to be persistent with your treatment as Lanolone Tablet 10s will eventually lower the number of attacks you experience and prevent damage to the joints. Your doctor will prescribe other medications for relief of acute attacks.

When should I start taking Lanolone Tablet 10s?

You should start taking Lanolone Tablet 10s when you are not currently experiencing a gout attack (usually 1-2 weeks after an attack has settled). Lanolone Tablet 10s should not be started until an acute gout attack has completely subsided as starting Lanolone Tablet 10s while experiencing a gout attack could precipitate and prolong your attack.
