Product Overview

Introduction of Trustiva Tablet 30s

Trustiva Tablet is an antiretroviral medication belonging to the combination drug class, containing the active ingredient Efavirenz, Emtricitabine, and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate — a well-established trio used in HIV management. As with most medicines, it's important for you to know that Trustiva may cause some side effects, including dizziness, sleep disturbances (such as vivid dreams or insomnia), nausea, and skin rash — most of which tend to ease as your body adjusts over time. Before you start taking this tablet, you'll want to know that it requires a valid prescription, should be taken consistently at the same time each day, and must never be stopped abruptly without your doctor's advice. It's also worth knowing that this medicine can interact with certain other drugs and foods, so always keep your healthcare provider in the loop about everything else you're taking.

How to Take Trustiva Tablet

Trustiva Tablet is typically taken orally, once daily, with or without food — though taking it on an empty stomach or with a low-fat meal is often recommended to help reduce the intensity of side effects, particularly those related to the central nervous system. It is best taken at bedtime to minimise the impact of dizziness or drowsiness that some people may experience. Always swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water and follow your doctor's or pharmacist's specific instructions carefully.

Dosage of Trustiva Tablet

The standard recommended dose for adults is one tablet (containing Efavirenz 600 mg / Emtricitabine 200 mg / Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate 300 mg) taken once daily, as prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional. Dosage adjustments may be required for individuals with kidney impairment or other medical conditions, so always follow your doctor's personalised guidance rather than self-adjusting your dose.

Shelf Life of Trustiva Tablet

Trustiva Tablet generally has a shelf life of 24 to 36 months from the date of manufacture, as indicated on the original packaging. Always check the expiry date printed on the box or blister pack before use, and do not consume the tablet beyond its stated expiry date, even if it appears unchanged in appearance.

How to Store Trustiva Tablet

  • Store Trustiva Tablet at room temperature, below 30°C
  • Keep the tablets in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture
  • Do not store in the bathroom or near the kitchen sink where humidity levels are high
  • Keep the medicine in its original packaging until ready to use
  • Store out of reach of children and pets at all times
  • Do not freeze the tablets
  • If you notice any changes in colour, texture, or smell, do not use the tablet and consult your pharmacist

Drug & Food Interactions of Trustiva Tablet

Drug Interactions:

  • Antifungals (e.g., Voriconazole) — Efavirenz significantly reduces plasma levels of Voriconazole; co-administration is contraindicated
  • Anticonvulsants (e.g., Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital) — may reduce Efavirenz plasma concentrations, potentially reducing effectiveness
  • Rifampicin — commonly used for tuberculosis; may lower Efavirenz levels and require dose adjustment
  • Statins (e.g., Simvastatin, Atorvastatin) — Efavirenz may reduce statin blood levels; monitoring and dose adjustment may be needed
  • Oral contraceptives — Efavirenz may reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives; additional or alternative contraceptive methods are advised
  • Warfarin and other anticoagulants — plasma levels may be affected; regular INR monitoring is recommended
  • Other antiretroviral agents — certain combinations may lead to overlapping toxicities or reduced efficacy; always follow specialist guidance
  • Nephrotoxic drugs (e.g., NSAIDs, Aminoglycosides) — concurrent use with Tenofovir may increase the risk of kidney-related adverse effects
  • Herbal supplements (e.g., St. John's Wort) — may significantly reduce Efavirenz blood levels and compromise treatment effectiveness

Food Interactions:

  • High-fat meals — may increase the absorption of Efavirenz and amplify central nervous system side effects; a low-fat meal or fasting is generally preferred
  • Alcohol — concurrent use may worsen CNS side effects such as dizziness, confusion, and mood disturbances; alcohol should be avoided or minimised
  • Grapefruit juice — may interfere with drug metabolism; best avoided during treatment

Quick Tips for Trustiva Tablet

  • Always take Trustiva at the same time every day — consistency is key to maintaining effective drug levels in your body
