Side Effects

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

There could be certain side-effects associated with the usage of the medication. Please refer to the list below:-

Allergic reactions - Low blood pressure, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, swelling of your face, difficulty breathing
Change in taste such as a metallic taste
Low blood pressure or high blood pressure
Nausea
Vomiting
Reactions around the site of injection/ infusion - Pain, itching, irritation, haematoma or discolouration if there is leakage of the injection into the skin
Headache or dizziness
Stomach pain or diarrhoea
Itching, rash, flushing, burning sensation
Muscle spasms, cramps
Tingling sensation
Reduced sensation of touch
Vein inflammation
Constipation
Joint pain
Pain in limbs
Back pain
Chills
Weakness, tiredness
Swelling of hands and feet
Raised liver enzymes
Raised serum ferritin levels

While some these symptoms are more common, there are a few rare symptoms that could also occur. If you are feeling any other symptoms (whether it is mentioned in the above list or not), please consult with a doctor immediately. These symptoms become more prominent as when one is undergoing a long term therapy with this medication.

Allergy to Venofer or any of its components
Hypersensitivity to injectable iron containing products
Anemia that is not caused by iron deficiency
Iron overload
Systemic lupus erythematosus
Rheumatoid arthritis
Severe asthma, eczema or other allergies
Infections
Liver problems
Pregnancy (especially the first trimester)
Breastfeeding

Venofer Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Venofer varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.

Oral iron supplements

This is an incomprehensive list of drug-to-drug interactions and conditions that might interfere with Venofer function. Do inform your doctor about all your current medications prior to using this drug.

Avoid excess exposure to sunlight
Avoid this medicine for a longer use
Alcohol might affect your liver if it is taken with this medication

Alcohol Warning (Limited Data)

No information is found about the safety of consuming alcohol with Venofer 20mg/ml Ampoule 5ml x5. Yet, consumption of alcohol and Venofer 20mg/ml Ampoule 5ml x5 together may potentiate the side effects of the medication.

Pregnancy Warning (Limited Data)

Usage of Venofer 20mg/ml Ampoule 5ml x5 is contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy. It can be used with cautions during the second or third trimester

Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)

Driving Warning (Not Advisable)
