A nebulizer, like the Yirdoc Portable Intelligent Mesh Nebulizer (NEB-002) turns liquid medication into a mist for inhalation.
Nebulizers come in three varieties:
- Jet. Compressed gas creates an aerosol (tiny particles of medication in the air).
- Ultrasonic. High-frequency vibrations create an aerosol. A jet nebulizer produces smaller particles.
- Mesh. For an aerosol, liquid travels through a fine mesh. This nebulizer produces the tiniest particles.
To avoid infection, keep your asthma nebulizer clean and disinfected. Keep it away from open windows, smoke, and dust.
Cleaning your nebulizer is simple:
Rewash the nebulizer cup with warm water, shake off excess water, and air dry. Every day, wash the cup, mask, and mouthpiece in warm water with mild detergent. Rinse well and air dry. The compressor tube is not cleaned.
After washing your equipment, disinfect it every third day with a vinegar/water solution or a disinfectant. 1/2 cup white vinegar + 1 1/2 cup water = vinegar solution. Soak the equipment for 20 minutes and then rinse it well. Discard the water and air-dry the paper towel. When completely dried, store it in a zippered plastic bag.
Storing:
- Cover the compressor with a clean cloth while not in use. If required, wipe it with a moist cloth.
- Don't store or treat the air compressor on the floor.
- Keep drugs cool and dry. Some must be refrigerated, while others must be kept dark. Keep an eye out. Replace them if they've changed color or produced crystals.
