How To Use YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet

This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.
Precautionary Steps of YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet

Please consult a doctor especially before taking Allopurinol YSP tab. If you have any of the following conditions & contraindications:-
  • Hypersensitivity,
  • Acute gout,
  • Children except those w/ hyperuricemia secondary to malignancy,
  • Asymptomatic hyperuricemia.

Please stop using this medication if you are experiencing these symptoms and conditions.

Allopurinol YSP tab Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Allopurinol YSP tab varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.

  • Azathioprine, 
  • Mercaptopurine, 
  • Captopril, 
  • Coumarin anticoagulants, 
  • Cyclosporin.

Alcohol Warning( Not Advisable )
It is not advisable to take alcohol with YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet as it would worsen any dizziness, blurred vision, and drowsiness.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)
YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning ( Limited Data )
YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet is excreted in the breast milk, along with its active metabolite oxipurinol. However, no data shows any effect of YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet and oxipurinol in the breast milk on the baby. Ultimately, it is not recommended as of now.

Driving Warning ( Not Advisable )
Do not drive unless you are feeling well. YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet may cause side effects such as sleepiness, vertigo or loss of balance, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Warning ( Use With Care )
YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease, especially if used with diuretics. Dose adjustment of YSP Allopurinol 300mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning ( Use With Care )

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Apart from the list of Allopurinol YSP tab uses, there could be certain side-effects associated with the usage of the medication. Please refer to the list below:-
  1. Rash & hypersensitivity reactions
  2. Nausea, 
  3. Vomiting,

1. What should I do when I missed a dose of Allopurinol YSP tab?

If you have missed a dose by chance, try to consume it as soon as possible when you notice. If the time to your next dosage is close, simply skip the medicine. In such cases, try to not double the dosage. 

2. I  think I have accidentally overdosed from the prescribed quantity of Allopurinol YSP tab. Do I need to see a doctor?

If you feel that you might have used more than the prescribed quantity of Allopurinol YSP tab, please talk to a physician immediately as overdosage more than the prescribed quantity might lead to undesirable side-effects. 

3. Am I allowed to drink alcohol after taking Allopurinol YSP tab?

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended with Allopurinol YSP tab. The resulting interaction between this medication with alcohol may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness and also it might raise the risk of side effects occurrence. In any case, do not consume more than 90 mL a day.
