Introduction of Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip)

Zyloric 300 Tablet should be taken after a meal. You can keep taking it as prescribed by your doctor even though you are not having a gout. If you stop, your symptoms can get worse because more crystals are formed in your joints and kidneys. You can support yourself by making a few changes to your diet and drinking plenty of fluids.

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor whether you have or have had problem with heart kidney or liver , or thyroid. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Please check with your doctor. You will be asked to monitor regular blood tests to ensure if your liver is functioning properly.

How To Use Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip)

This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.

Side Effects

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Most of the side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as the body responds to the medicine. Consult the doctor if they continue or if you are worried about them.

Some of the common side effects of this medicine include rash, nausea and diarrhoea. Your doctor can help to minimise or prevent these symptoms. Some people may have a severe allergic reaction that requires immediate medical treatment. Speak to the doctor right away if you have signs of liver problems, including non-stop nausea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or dark urine.

Warning Precautions

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)

It is not advisable to take alcohol with Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) as it would worsen any dizziness, blurred vision, and drowsiness.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)

Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)

Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) is excreted in the breast milk, along with its active metabolite oxipurinol. However, no data shows any effect of Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) and oxipurinol in the breast milk on the baby. Ultimately, it is not recommended as of now.

Driving Warning (Not Advisable)

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) may cause side effects such as sleepiness, vertigo or loss of balance, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)

Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease, especially if used with diuretics. Dose adjustment of Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)

Patients with liver disease should use Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) with caution. Dose adjustment of Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Quick Tips

Take Zyloric 300mg Tablet with food to avoid stomach discomfort.
Stay hydrated (2-3 litres) while on Zyloric 300mg Tablet .
Stop taking Zyloric 300mg Tablet and notify your doctor immediately if you get a skin rash, neck swelling, or trouble breathing while on it.
You may experience some unwanted reactions when you start taking Zyloric 300mg Tablet the first time.
Regular liver function tests will be done before and while on treatment with Zyloric 300mg Tablet.
Notify your doctor if you experience yellowing of the eyes or skin, black urine, or stomach discomfort,
Do not drink alcohol while on Zyloric 300mg Tablet as it may affect your condition.

What If You Forget To Take

If you miss a dose of Zyloric 300 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Why do my symptoms seem to be getting worse when taking Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip)?

It is common that you get attacks when starting your treatment with Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip). This is because the uric acid levels in your body are still adjusting. You are advised to be persistent with your treatment as Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) will eventually lower the number of attacks you experience and prevent damage to the joints. Your doctor will prescribe other medications for relief of acute attacks.

When should I start taking Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip)?

You should start taking Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) when you are not currently experiencing a gout attack (usually 1-2 weeks after an attack has settled). Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) should not be started until an acute gout attack has completely subsided as starting Zyloric 300mg Tablet 10s (strip) while experiencing a gout attack could precipitate and prolong your attack.
