Duopharma Beamotil Tablet

Duopharma Beamotil Tablet is an antispasmodic medicine containing Hyoscine Butylbromide 10mg, used to relieve painful spasms (cramps) of the smooth muscle in the stomach and intestines, commonly experienced as stomach cramps, abdominal colic, bloating-related pain, and intestinal spasms. It is also used for spasms related to conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and menstrual cramps in some cases.

This tablet is a non-prescription (over-the-counter) medicine widely used by adults for short-term relief of gastrointestinal cramping and spasm-related abdominal discomfort. It works directly on the smooth muscle of the gut to relax it, rather than treating the underlying cause of the cramps, so persistent or severe abdominal pain should still be evaluated by a doctor.

Hyoscine Butylbromide is an antimuscarinic (anticholinergic) antispasmodic that works by blocking specific receptors on the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract, which reduces excessive muscle contraction and spasm. Because it acts mainly on the smooth muscle of the gut rather than in the brain, it relieves cramping pain and colic with a lower likelihood of central nervous system effects compared to some other anticholinergic medicines.

Take Duopharma Beamotil Tablet orally with a glass of water, with or without food, as directed on the product label or by a doctor or pharmacist. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew unless advised otherwise. Take only when needed for cramps or spasm-related pain, following the recommended dosing frequency stated on the packaging.

The usual adult dose of Duopharma Beamotil Tablet is one tablet (10mg) taken three to four times a day as needed for abdominal cramps or spasms, not exceeding the maximum daily dose stated on the product packaging. This product is generally not recommended for young children unless specifically advised by a doctor. Always check the packaging for age-specific instructions and consult a doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist.

Duopharma Beamotil Tablet should be used within the shelf-life period printed on the blister strip or carton, and discarded after the stated expiry date. Do not use tablets that appear discoloured, crumbling, or otherwise different from their usual appearance.

Store Duopharma Beamotil Tablet at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep the tablets in their original blister packaging until ready to use, and store out of the reach and sight of children.

• Known hypersensitivity to hyoscine butylbromide or any other ingredient in this tablet
• Myasthenia gravis
• Narrow-angle glaucoma
• Significant enlargement of the prostate gland causing urinary retention
• Mechanical intestinal obstruction (paralytic ileus or pyloric stenosis)
• Megacolon
• Unexplained or unstable rapid heartbeat

• May enhance the anticholinergic (dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation) effects of other medicines, such as certain antidepressants, antihistamines, or medicines for overactive bladder
• May reduce the effectiveness of medicines that rely on increased gut motility, such as metoclopramide
• Caution when combined with other medicines that affect heart rate
• No significant food interactions are expected when taken as directed

• Take only when experiencing cramps or spasm-related pain rather than as a routine daily medicine
• Drink adequate water and maintain a balanced diet to support normal bowel movement alongside symptom relief
• Avoid driving or performing tasks requiring clear vision if blurred vision occurs
• Seek medical advice if abdominal pain is severe, persistent, or accompanied by fever, vomiting, or blood in the stool
• Do not use for more than a few days without medical advice if symptoms do not improve

Duopharma Beamotil Tablet is intended for short-term relief of cramping abdominal pain and is not a treatment for the underlying cause of recurring or severe abdominal symptoms, such as an infection, inflammatory bowel disease, or other gastrointestinal conditions. If cramps are severe, persistent, or associated with other concerning symptoms such as fever, significant weight loss, or blood in the stool, medical evaluation should be sought rather than relying solely on this tablet.
