Hi, thank you for your question. Premature ejaculation is ejaculation occurs sooner than what a man or the partner would like during sexual intercourse. This can happened to all man and might not be a cause to worry about. It may cause frustration if it affects your sex and relationship in the long term. It is most commonly associated with psychological problem, but biological causes may also play an role.

Biologically, premature ejaculation is related to the level of serotonin in the body. Reduced serotonin level in the body can shorten ejaculation time and lead to premature ejaculation. However, the exact causes is unknown. Besides that, prostate problems, thyroid problems, diabetes and excessive alcohol usage can contribute to premature ejaculation. There are also several psychological causes such as stress, guilt, depression and relationship problems. In most cases, the problem is due to psychological causes.

There are some methods that you can try before any medications are needed. Bear in mind that most premature ejaculation will resolve without needing any medications. You can try the squeeze method and start-and-stop method. Squeeze method requires you to squeeze the head of penis by you or your partner just before the point of orgasm for about 30 seconds, and resume sexual stimulation afterwards. This method is repeated for about 3-4 times before ejaculation takes place.

For start-and-stop method, you only need to stop the sexual stimulation before the orgasm and resume the sexual stimulation after that. Again, repeat the method for 3-4 times. This requires patience and practices over time to achieve desirable results. If this problem continues, there may be a need to talk with your doctor.
