Greeting. Thank you for your question.

We’re now facing an outbreak of coronavirus. Thus, I understand your concern.

From the information above, I understand that your husband are now being quarantine because he had a close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. According to a guideline for home quarantine published by Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

  • The spouse should be in a room by himself/herself and avoid contact as much as possible from the rest of the household members.
  • He/She should also have an access to a bathroom for his/her own use only. Monitor for development of any symptoms.
  • Prohibit unnecessary visits by people not living in their house.
  • Avoid contact with pets
  • Make sure that shared spaces has good ventilation
  • Maintain good hygiene like washing hands frequently and avoid touching eyes, mouth, nose with unwashed hands
  • Wear face mask when in the same room with the person quarantined. Do not reuse the face mask.
  • Avoid sharing household items with individu undergoing quarantine. Wash their clothes separately and thoroughly.
  • Wipe surfaces with disinfectants.
  • Dispose all face mask, disposable gloves and other contaminated items in a lined container before disposing them with other household waste.

Meanwhile for the rest of the family member, you don’t have to be quarantine. However you are advice to practive these following steps from Centre of Disease Control (CDC):

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
