Covid-19: Blood in phlegm and chest pain

Hi doctor, good day to you. I was recently tested positive for Covid, and I started seeing blood in my phlegm along with chest pain. I’ve also been having really bad sore throat that left me unable to speak. What should I do?

Hello and good morning.
Thank you for your question.

Based on your question, I understand that you are worried about your problem. I will try to help you.

For your information, there are some circumstances where you should seek immediate medical attention for the Coronavirus infection. (This is a non-exhaustive list and any other worrying symptoms should warrant medical attention):

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Chest pain or pressure on the chest that doesn’t go away
  • New onset confusion
  • Inability to wake up or stay awake
  • Pale, grey or blueish skin, lips or nail beds - depending on skin tone

I strongly encourage you to consult a doctor in your nearest hospital or health clinic (klinik kesihatan) as soon as possible for proper evaluation and treatment. You can also contact our doctor online for further information and treatment.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you.
