How Chlordiazepoxide Works

Chlordiazepoxide acts by enhancing the effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that inhibits the activity of neurons in the brain. This leads to a calming effect on the central nervous system, resulting in the alleviation of anxiety symptoms.

Side Effects of Chlordiazepoxide

Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, and confusion. Less common but serious side effects can include respiratory depression, dependence, and withdrawal symptoms upon discontinuation.
