Acne pimples that reappear at the same places

Hi doctor, I’m 22 years old this year. I’m having a huge acne that keeps on coming back. I’ve kept my skin care simple, try to be consistent in terms of product and time. Few years ago I took plan B pills and it helped with the acne however once I’ve stopped being on the pills my acne came back. Even tho it’s not as bad as before, should I reconsider going back to taking any form of birth control?

p.s. I stopped plan B due to weight fluctuation.

Thanks

Hello and good afternoon.
Thank you for your question.

Based on your question, I understand that you are worried about your problem. I will try to help you.

Based on your description, the symptoms you are experiencing can be due to several factors such as:

  • Genetics . Trouble with acne can run in your family.
  • Medications . Acne can develop as a side effect of some medicines like certain antidepressants.
  • Hormones . Hormonal changes in the teenage years are often the cause of acne. But for women past puberty, pimple outbreaks can be linked to hormonal changes that happen during menstruation and pregnancy.
  • Sweat . Sweat, especially if it’s trapped under tight clothing, can make acne worse.
  • Stress . Stress isn’t a direct cause of acne, but it could be a contributing factor.
