Thyroid and fertility
After giving birth to my daughter in 2017, the nurse notice that my thyroid seem bigger so i did a scan, and the doctor mention that one of the gland seem bigger and i need to see specialist. But i have other health issue at that time so until now i have not do a check up. Now i notice that after giving birth my period is longer >10 days and the 1st 3 days i have very heavy bleeding with clots. Does this have to do with thyroid? And will it effect fertility?

For your information, a thyroid disease will have tendency to affect your menstrual cycle and causes abnormal uterine bleeding. This is because the abnormal thyroid hormone level will affect the normal metabolic rate in the body, which usually will leads to other symptoms as well, such as weight changes, mood swing, sleeps disturbance and so on.
The thyroid disease will not cause direct effect on fertility, however because abnormal thyroid hormone will affect the normal menstrual cycle causing the ovulation process to be unpredictable. Hence, there will be difficulty in being pregnant if the thyroid disease is not control.
