There are 6 tests in this package which help detect antibodies for some of the most common types of STDs. Chlamydia - A type of bacterial infection, transmitted mostly through vaginal, oral, and anal intercourse. It can cause pelvic inflammation, prostate infection, and in some cases even infertility due to obstruction of the fallopian tube. It's also possible for expectant mothers to pass chlamydia on to their babies during birth, resulting in pneumonia or a severe eye infection in the babiesHerpes Simplex Virus Type I (HSV1) - Most commonly transmitted by skin-to-skin contact, although it can also be transmitted to the vaginal area during oral sex. Kissing or sharing things such as toothbrushes or eating utensils can spread the infection. It commonly causes sores around the mouth and lips, sometimes called fever blisters or cold sores. Herpes Simplex Virus Type II (HSV2) - HSV2 is the most common cause of genital herpes, and it spreads through sexual contact. The virus remains latent in your body after the initial infection and can reawaken multiple times a year. Pain, itching, and lesions in the vaginal region are all symptoms of genital herpes. However, infection could be asymptomatic. Even with no visible sores, you could transmit the infection to your partner if you’re infected. Although there is no cure for genital herpes, medications can help to alleviate symptoms and minimize the risk of infection.HIV I & II - The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a chronic, sometimes fatal disease. It impairs your body's capacity to fight infection and illness by destroying your immune system. HIV can spread through sexual contact, or by contact with contaminated blood, injectable drug usage, and needle sharing. During pregnancy, delivery, or nursing, it can also be passed from mother to child. The infection remains latent and asymptomatic for years before progressing to AIDS. Getting tested is the only way to catch infection and begin an early course of treatment to help increase lifespan. Syphilis (VDRL and TPHA Test) - Syphilis is a bacterial infection that is typically transmitted through sexual contact. The infection begins as a painless sore on the genitals, rectum, or mouth. Syphilis is passed from person to person by contact with these lesions on the skin or mucous membrane. Syphilis can also be passed down from mothers to their unborn offspring. The bacteria can remain dormant in the body for decades after infection before becoming active again. At an early stage, syphilis can be treated easily. But it can cause life-threatening damage to the heart, brain, and other organs if treatment is delayed.
