Who should book this package?

Suitable upon doctor's referral for individuals with altered bowel habit, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, chronic constipation, chronic diarrhea, other intestinal problems, anemias of unknown cause and patients with immediate family history of colon cancer.

Recommended for individuals above the age of 45, especially with family history, to screen for colorectal and other related cancers. A Colonoscopy can detect early-stage of colorectal cancer before symptoms further developed which can improve treatment outcomes.

Tests included in this package

Colonoscopy is an endoscopic procedure where the doctor will use a colonoscope (a slender, flexible tube containing a light and a tiny video camera which makes up the scope) to examine and detect changes or abnormalities in the large intestine (colon) and rectum.

Tissue samples (biopsy) can be collected and treatment can be performed through the colonoscope, if required. For example, polyps (small growth of tissue on the lining of the colon or rectum that may sometimes become cancerous) can be removed or bleeding can be controlled using diathermy or small clips.

This procedure is usually not painful and will be performed under sedation (anesthesia) which can cause some minimal discomfort.

FASTING

Please remember to fast 6 hours before the procedure. Only clear fluids are allowed during this time.
Low fiber diet on the day preceding Colonoscopy is recommended.
A day prior to the Colonoscopy, patients will be given instructions to clean the colon, also known as bowel preparation.
Bowel preparation is compulsory and will be prescribed by the doctor with the purpose of clearing your bowel content in preparation for the Colonoscopy procedure.
