Azopt 1% Eye Suspension

Azopt 1% Eye Suspension is an ophthalmic solution that belongs to a class of medications called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Its active ingredient is Brinzolamide. While using Azopt, you may experience side effects like blurred vision, eye discomfort, bitter taste in the mouth, or feeling something in your eye. If you’re just starting this eye drop, it’s good to know that it needs to be applied exactly as instructed, and shaking it well before each use is important for it to work properly.

Shake the bottle well before each use and apply the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye(s) as directed by your doctor.

The usual recommended dosage is one drop in the affected eye(s) two to three times daily, as instructed by your healthcare provider.

Azopt 1% Eye Suspension generally has a shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture. Always check the expiry date printed on the packaging.

Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use and avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Discard 28 days after opening.

Do not use Azopt if you are allergic to Brinzolamide or any of its ingredients, or if you have severe kidney problems or a history of sulfonamide allergy.

Avoid using Azopt with other eye drops unless advised by your doctor. It may interact with oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors and some diuretics. Let your healthcare provider know all medicines and supplements you are using.

• Always wash your hands before applying the eye drops
• Shake the bottle well before every use
• Don’ touch the dropper tip to your eye or any surface to avoid contamination
• Wait 5–10 minutes between applying other eye drops
• Remove contact lenses before using and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them
