The DuraSafe Incentive Spirometer 3-Ball Respiratory Exerciser is a medical tool used for respiratory therapy. It's intended to aid patients with breathing exercises and lung capacity improvement. The apparatus consists of a clear plastic container with three tiny balls inside of which rise with each inhalation of the user. The patient must breathe in deeply enough to lift the balls to the top of the chamber and maintain them there for a number of seconds before exhaling. The patient benefits from the exerciser by having a larger lung capacity, preventing atelectasis (lung collapse), and lowering their risk of pneumonia and other respiratory issues.

  2. To create a tight seal, insert the mouthpiece of the device between your lips while holding it upright.
  3. Try to elevate all three balls to the top of the chamber by taking a slow, deep breath through the mouthpiece.
  4. Maintaining your lifted balls, hold your breath for a short period of time (three to five seconds).
  5. Let the balls fall to the bottom of the chamber as you slowly and fully exhale via the mouthpiece.
  6. While you are awake, continue the process for 10 to 15 breaths after a brief period of rest.
