Dezal 5mg Tablet

Dezal 5mg Tablet is an oral antihistamine containing desloratadine 5mg as its active ingredient, used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives). It helps control sneezing, runny or itchy nose, nasal congestion, itchy and watery eyes, and itchy skin with hives by blocking the action of histamine, the chemical the body releases during an allergic reaction.

Dezal 5mg Tablet is a non-prescription (over-the-counter) product available in Malaysia and Singapore, part of the same well-established desloratadine brand family that also includes a non-Rx syrup/solution formulation confirmed available without a prescription. As a second-generation, non-drowsy antihistamine, it is taken once daily and is a convenient option for adults and adolescents managing everyday seasonal or year-round allergy symptoms.

Desloratadine is a long-acting, selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist. It works by binding to and blocking H1 receptors on cells throughout the body, preventing histamine released during an allergic response from triggering the itching, swelling, sneezing, and mucus production typical of allergic rhinitis and urticaria. Because desloratadine penetrates the central nervous system only minimally at recommended doses, it provides effective symptom relief with a low tendency to cause drowsiness compared with older, first-generation antihistamines.

Take one Dezal 5mg Tablet by mouth once daily, with or without food, swallowing it whole with a glass of water. The tablet can be taken at any convenient time of day, but taking it at roughly the same time each day helps maintain consistent symptom control. Do not chew or crush the tablet unless advised, and do not take more than one tablet within a 24-hour period.

The usual dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above is one 5mg tablet once daily. Use in children under 12 years is not recommended unless specifically advised by a doctor, as an age-appropriate formulation and dose should be used instead.
