How To Use Forxiga 10mg Tablet

This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.
Please consult a doctor especially before taking Forxiga FC tab 10 mg. If you have any of the following conditions & contraindications:-
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Lactation 

Please stop using this medication if you are experiencing these symptoms and conditions.

 
Forxiga FC tab 10 mg Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.
  • Thiazide 
  • Loop diuretics 
  • Sulphonylureas 
  • Pioglitazone

Alcohol Warning (Safe)
There is no known interaction of Forxiga 10mg Tablet with alcohol.

Pregnancy Warning (C)
Forxiga 10mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal reproduction studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus. However, there are limited well-controlled human studies. The benefits from the use of Forxiga 10mg Tablet in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning (Not Safe To Breastfeed)
Forxiga 10mg Tablet is contraindicated during lactation. Animal studies have shown excretion of Forxiga 10mg Tablet in milk.

Driving Warning (Safe)
Forxiga 10mg Tablet usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (High Risk)
Forxiga 10mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment and patients on dialysis. This is because the glycemic efficacy of the drug depends on renal function. Dose adjustment of Forxiga 10mg Tablet and monitoring of renal function is necessary. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Safe)
Forxiga 10mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver impairment. Dose adjustment of Forxiga 10mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Apart from the list of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg uses, there could be certain side-effects associated with the usage of the medication. Please refer to the list below:-
  1. Hypoglycemia (in combination w/ sulfonylurea or insulin)
  2. Vulvovaginitis
  3. Balanitis & related genital infections 
  4. Urinary tract infection
  5. Dizziness
  6. Rash
  7. Back pain
  8. Dysuria
  9. Polyuria
  10. Increased haematocrit
  11. Decreased creatinine renal clearance
  12. Dyslipidemia

While some these symptoms are more common, there are a few rare symptoms that could also occur. If you are feeling any other symptoms (whether it is mentioned in the above list or not), please consult with a doctor immediately. Please, consult with a doctor if you are having rashes or blurry visions. Report if you experience any other symptoms as the above list may not be exhaustive. These symptoms become more prominent as when one is undergoing a long term therapy with this medication. 

1. What should I do when I missed a dose of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg?

If you have missed a dose by chance, try to consume it as soon as possible when you notice. If the time to your next dosage is close, simply skip the medicine. In such cases, try to not double the dosage. 


2. I  think I have accidentally overdosed from the prescribed quantity of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg. Do I need to see a doctor?

If you feel that you might have used more than the prescribed quantity of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg, please talk to a physician immediately as overdosage more than the prescribed quantity might lead to undesirable side-effects. 


3. Am I allowed to drink alcohol after taking Forxiga FC tab 10 mg?

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended with Forxiga FC tab 10 mg. The resulting interaction between this medication with alcohol may raise the risk of side effects occurrence. In any case, do not consume more than 90 mL a day.


4. Will the consumption of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg affect the child that I am bearing?

Limited information is available about the usage of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg during pregnancy. You’re advised to consult an obstetrician for detailed information before start consuming this drug. Pregnant women can weigh the pros and cons of the drug with the help of a doctor before it is used.


5. I am currently nursing my baby. Is it safe to use Forxiga FC tab 10 mg during breastfeeding or lactation?

The use of this medication is contraindicated in lactating mothers. You’re advised to consult an obstetrician for detailed information before start consuming this drug. Lactating mother can weigh the pros and cons of the drug with the help of a doctor before it is used.


6. Am I able to drive when I consume  Forxiga FC tab 10 mg?

Not recommended. Forxiga FC tab 10 mg might make you feel drowsy. It is considered unsafe to drive when you feel such symptoms.


7. Does Forxiga FC tab 10 mg have an addictive property?

8. What should I do if I mistakenly took an expired dose of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg?

Consuming an expired dose of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg by accident might not be harmful but do consult your physician for advice just to be safe in this matter. 


9. Is it alright to use nutritional supplements such as Zincovit, D-rise 60k along with 
Forxiga FC tab 10 mg?

Yes, Forxiga FC tab 10 mg can be taken with supplements. But, it is advisable for you to inform your physician about all the current medications as well supplements that you are currently taking before using this medicine.


10. Can you explain on the safety of the usage of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg?

Forxiga FC tab 10 mg is safe to use if taken in the prescribed dosage as suggested by the physician.


11. Do I have to gradually reduce the dosage of Forxiga FC tab 10 mg or can it be stopped abruptly? 
There are some drugs that cannot be stopped immediately as it can have some withdrawal symptoms. Consult with your doctor regarding the usage of the medication as well as withdrawal symptoms, if any.
