Kefentech 30mg Plaster

Kefentech 30mg Plaster is a transdermal medicated patch containing ketoprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), applied directly to the skin over the area of pain. It is used for the localized relief of mild to moderate musculoskeletal pain such as muscle strains, sprains, backache, and joint pain, delivering the medicine directly to the affected area rather than through the whole body.

Because Kefentech 30mg Plaster works topically at the site of application, it generally results in lower systemic absorption of ketoprofen compared with oral NSAID tablets, which can mean a reduced risk of some whole-body NSAID side effects, though local skin reactions and photosensitivity remain important precautions. Kefentech 30mg Plaster is available without a doctor’s prescription in Malaysia as a topical NSAID for localized pain, though pharmacist advice is recommended if pain is severe, persistent, or if you have underlying health conditions.

Ketoprofen released from the plaster is absorbed through the skin into the underlying tissue, where it inhibits the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes responsible for producing prostaglandins, the chemical mediators of pain and inflammation, thereby reducing localized pain, swelling, and stiffness at the site of application.

Clean and dry the affected area of skin, then peel off the protective film and apply the Kefentech 30mg Plaster directly over the site of pain, pressing firmly to ensure good adhesion. Usually one plaster is applied once daily and left in place for up to 24 hours as directed on the packaging or by a pharmacist, and the area should not be exposed to direct sunlight while the plaster is on or shortly after removal.

Apply one Kefentech 30mg Plaster to the affected area once daily, replacing it after 24 hours if continued treatment is needed, for no more than the duration recommended on the packaging, generally up to a few days for acute pain. Do not apply more than one plaster at a time unless advised by a pharmacist or doctor, and do not use on broken or irritated skin.

Use Kefentech 30mg Plaster before the expiry date printed on the sachet and carton. Do not use a plaster if its sachet has been opened for an extended period, or if the seal is damaged, as this may affect the medicated adhesive.

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, keeping each plaster in its individual sealed sachet until ready for use. Keep out of reach of children.

• Known allergy to ketoprofen, other NSAIDs, aspirin, or fenofibrate
• History of photosensitivity reactions to ketoprofen or related compounds
• Use on broken skin, open wounds, infected skin, or eczema
• Third trimester of pregnancy
• Severe asthma or history of NSAID-induced asthma or urticaria

• Oral NSAIDs or aspirin used at the same time, which may increase overall NSAID exposure

• Anticoagulants such as warfarin, particularly if used together with oral NSAIDs

• Apply to clean, dry, intact skin only, avoiding broken or irritated areas
• Protect the treated area from direct sunlight during use and for some time after removal to reduce photosensitivity risk
• Do not use more than one plaster at a time without pharmacist or doctor advice
• Wash hands after applying or removing the plaster
• Seek medical advice if pain persists beyond a few days or if skin irritation develops

Topical NSAID plasters like Kefentech offer targeted pain relief with generally lower systemic exposure than oral NSAIDs, making them a useful option for localized musculoskeletal pain, though the same photosensitivity and skin-reaction precautions that apply to topical ketoprofen products should be observed, including sun avoidance over the treated area.
