Nordette are made of these ingredients:

The effects of Nordette depends on the purpose of usage and the dose of the medication taken. If the symptoms does not subside, please talk to a doctor immediately to find another alternative solution.

You need doctor's prescription to get this medication. This medication is suppose to be taken only according to the dosage given by the doctor.

Please check the expiry date on the medication before usage. Ways of consuming Nordette - swallow the pill and do not chew. Consume according to the dosage suggested by the doctor.

  • Dosage taken should be according to doctor’s advice. Make sure the dosage given is appropriate for the period of time the medicine is taken.
  • The time for the drug to show its effects depends on the cause of taking the medication as well as the dosage consumed.
  • If there is no reduction in symptoms within 30 minutes to one hour of consumption, please talk to a doctor to find alternative solution.

  • General advice for Nordette:
    • Always finish your Nordette as given by the doctor and do not stop taking it although you feel healthy.
    • Do not consume this medication upon listening to family members or friends and also do not pass this medicine on to other people just because they have the similar symptom.
    • Always be aware of the expiry date that is stated on the medication packet.
    • Keep Nordette at room temperature and avoid exposure to sunlight.
    • Nordette does not cure diseases but it just help relieve symptoms for the time being.
    • Ladies, please talk to a doctor if you have period, dysmenorrhea, abdominal pain, etc so that the doctor can advise when or how to take the medication.
    • Stop Nordette or tell your doctor if you experience rashes or any other side effects.

Before taking Nordette, please get a doctor’s advice especially if you have any of the following disease. Contraindications:
  1. Allergic to Nordette or any of its ingredients
  2. Liver disease
  3. Asthma or other respiratory problems
  4. Hypersensitivity
  5. Breastfeeding mothers
  6. Hypothyroidism
  7. Breast cancer
  8. Migraine
  9. Depression
  10. Myocardial infarction
  11. Hypertension
  12. Not to be used by children or babies

Please stop taking the Nordette if you experience any symptom.

Reaction towards Nordette:
  1. Alcohol
  2. Caffeine 
  3. Aromatase inhibitors (anastrozole)
  4. Ospemifene
  5. Tamoxifen
  6. Tizanidine
  7. Tranexamic acid

Reaction differs according to an individual. You are advised to ask a doctor regarding any reactions that may occur with other medications or substances before taking Nordette.

These are a few reactions between medication and diseases that is incomplete that might cause disturbance to Nordette.

Before consuming the medication, please inform your doctor regarding other medicines that you are taking. Please also remember the following precautions:
  • Avoid exposure to excess sunlight
  • Avoid using this medication continuously
  • Alcohol might affect the liver if taken along with this medication

Inform your doctor regarding other diseases that you might experience or regarding other medications that you are consuming. Do not stop taking the medication that the doctor prescribes. 

Alcohol Warning (Limited information)
It is not advised to consume alcohol with Nordette Tablet. Taking Nordette Tablet with alcohol may worsen the CNS side effects such as headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, and nausea.

Pregnancy Warning (Limited information)
Nordette Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy. Both animal and human studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus. The risk involved is clearly outweigh the potential benefits. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning (Limited information)
Nordette Tablet is not recommended to use during lactation because it is secreted into breast milk. However, the potential exposure of the nursing infant to Nordette Tablet can be reduced if the mother takes the tablet immediately after feeding and avoids nursing for at least the following 8 hours.

Driving Warning (Limited information)
Nordette Tablet usualy does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (Limited information)
Nordette Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Nordette Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Limited information)
Nordette Tablet is not recommended for patients with liver adenoma and any other hepatic impairment. Please consult your doctor.

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Besides these functions and uses of Nordette, there are certain side effects that are related to this medication. Please refer to the list below:
  1. Nausea
  2. Vomiting
  3. Bloatedness
  4. Diarrhea
  5. Breast tenderness
  6. Weight changes
  7. Intermediate vaginal bleeding
  8. Irregular period cycle
  9. Hypertension
  10. Abdominal pain
  11. Depression
  12. Changes in urine colour
  13. Skin or eye colour becomes yellowish

Although some of these symptoms usually happen, there are a few symptoms that rarely happen. If you experience any of these symptoms (either mentioned or not), please talk a doctor immediately. You also have to refer to a doctor if you experience blurring of vision or skin rashes. The above list may be incomplete and please also mention if you experience other symptoms than mentioned above. These symptoms might be revealed when one uses the medication for a long period of time.

1. I forgot to take Nordette on a specific day. What should I do?
If you forgot to take one dose of your medication, please take it as soon as you realize it. But if the time to take the next dose is near then just ignore the dose that you forgot. In such situation, avoid taking the dose twice from what is advised.

2. I used over the Nordette medication from the recommended quantities. What steps should I take?
If you think you took Nordette more than the quantity advised, please refer to your doctor immediately. Consumption of the medication more from the dosage given might bring unwanted side effects.

3. Is it safe to use Nordette medication when breastfeeding?
There are no information regarding the usage of Nordette during breastfeeding. You will have to refer to a gynaecologist for further information before taking the medication. The breastfeeding lady should evaluate the pros and cons of the medication with a doctor before consuming it.

4. Does drug use Nordette lead to addiction?
Please read the information displayed on the medication packet carefully.

5. I took  Nordette  which has been expired. What should I do?
Taking one dose of Nordette  that has expired might not bring any side effects but just to be careful, you should discuss it with your doctor as a precautionary step.

6. Is Nordette  medication safe for use?
