Introduction of Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip)

Metrogyl Gel is intended for topical use only. It can only be used at the affected region of the skin according to the doctor's recommended dose. Apply it consistently and preferably daily at a fixed time to get the most benefit. Do not use excessive amount or more frequently or for a longer duration than necessary. This will probably increase the risk of side effects.

Inform the doctor if you have some previous experience of allergies to it or some other medicine before taking it. Before using it, pregnant or breastfeeding women must consult their doctor. Prevent any contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth. If you accidentally have the medication in these places, wash it off with water.

How To Use Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip)

This medicine is for external use only. It should be applied to clean, dry and intact skin. Always wash your hands before and after using the gel. Take an appropriate amount and massage gently to the affected areas. Replace cap tightly after each use.

Side Effects

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Common side effects, such as mild burning, stinging, or pain, include dry skin, erythema, and contact site reactions. These are typically transient and heal rapidly. See the doctor if either of these persist or if the condition does not change.

Allergic, Dizziness, headache, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation, or metallic taste in your mouth, Urine color change, Fungal or bacterial super infection, Unsteadiness, seizures, mental/mood changes (such as confusion), Trouble speaking, Numbness/tingling of limbs, Eye pain, sudden vision changes, Headache, Stiff neck.

Warning Precautions

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip). Taking Metoclopramide with alcohol may cause a disulfiram-like reaction.

Pregnancy Warning (Maybe Safe)

Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip) has been used extensively without ill consequences. Animal studies have not shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may outweigh the risk. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)

It is found that Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip) is excreted in very little quantities in breast milk and not adequate to cause harmful effects. However, it is advisable to practice caution while taking Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip) during breastfeeding.

Driving Warning (Not Advisable)

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip) may cause side effects such as dizziness, visual or neurological disturbances, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)

Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip) elimination rate is not affected by kidney disease but effect of accumulation of its metabolites in the body is largely unknown. Please inform your doctor beforehand if you have any underlying kidney disease before using it.

Liver Warning (Limited Data)

Dose adjustment for Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip) is required in patients with hepatic impairment as its metabolism is mainly in the liver.

What If You Forget To Take

If you miss a dose of Metrogyl Gel, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

FAQ

Should I be concerned if I notice my urine colour change?

There is nothing to be concerned about as urine discolouration may happen when taking Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip). It is a known side effect.

Can the use of Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip) cause a metallic taste ?

It is said that Unimed Metrogyl 200mg Tablet 10s (strip) can temporarily cause a metallic taste on your tongue when taken. This metallic taste can be reduced by staying hydrated, chewing some gum or mints and even brushing your teeth after meals.

Stay hydrated while taking this medicine by drinking lots of water. Take folic acid only as directed by your doctor. This will assist to reduce the medication's negative effects.
